D&T Videography Film School

Have you ever wanted to be part of an epic film production? Whether you love being behind the camera, or in front of it, there are many roles to tempt you into a career that can offer so much for the creative mind. But, where do you start? How do you know if you will get the bug for film work unless you get a taste of the action? Well this is where our D&T Videography film course can give you a flavour of being involved in this great industry.

Let's Begin

You will start your journey getting know your trainers and your fellow crew members, and we will then start the process of assigning roles to everyone. Not everyone enjoys being in front of the camera, but remember, we are all in this together and we need to join in to help everyone experience the various roles that film production has to offer. So we will make sure those with acting skills will be given character parts and the more technically minded will be looking after filming, lighting, audio as well as the key roles of directing and stage managing, and there are plenty of parts to play as an extra. The emphasis is on having fun, and we will be giving everyone the chance to have a go at the roles that they want to do.

Who Can Join?

Our film school is aimed at beginners, anyone who has an interest in filmmaking, acting, editing and production, as well as those who have a creative and open mind and want to get involved. There is no need for experience with camera’s or editing software as we are here to show you how it all works and for you to learn some basic principles of film work.

What will we be doing?

We will start the course by getting to know you and finding out what interests you most within the film industry. We then start our journey, creating a short film that will show off your skills both in front, and behind the camera.

You will be tasked with creating a short film, based on a theme that will be set at the start. You will be an important part of the crew, experiencing scriptwriting, storyboarding, set management as well as filming, lighting, audio, acting and production.

Every film needs actors, and this is why we want to encourage as many of you as possible to take on a role in the film. Don’t worry if you have no acting experience, the emphasis is on fun as well as learning, so we can all join in to make you feel comfortable with what ever you do.

What Will You Learn?

We will aim to cover all of the following areas during your course:

  • The importance of storyboards and scriptwriting
  • The use of professional high definition Sony video camera’s
  • Audio recording using remote microphones
  • Framing of shots and various filming techniques
  • The use of green screen and chroma key technology
  • Basic editing techniques using Premier Pro CC.
  • Lighting techniques
  • How to have fun with a group of friends without a mobile phone!

"That's A Wrap"

So once you have completed your final scene, and your Director calls “It’s a wrap!”, it’s time to make all the final edits and produce your blockbuster.

There will be certificates for all those who have taken part, and a plan made to show the Premier of your film. It’s time to invite your family and friends to come along with the popcorn, and watch what you have created.

Fancy A Taster?

Our 1 day taster sessions offer an excellent opportunity to come along and meet the trainers, and get a flavour for what we do. We will show you some very basic principles of film making, and you will get the chance to get involved with the production of a short trailer for a blockbuster movie. You will be given an insight into green screen special effects, camera and audio work, as well as a bit of acting.

As with all of our courses, this is about having fun and stretching your imagination to see what you can create with the technology at your fingertips.

How Will You Be Taught?

Your course will be run by Tony & Nathan from D&T Videography. We both have many years of experience in the film industry, producing anything from weddings films through to promotional adverts for businesses. We have also assisted with filmwork for the science fiction film Invasion Planet Earth.

Whilst filming is our business, we both have a passion for being creative behind the camera, and this is where film workshops can be so much fun. Using our skills and equipment, combined with your enthusiasm and imagination, we can make something amazing.

There will be some short, informative presentations to help you understand the equipment we will be using, but we want to get everyone involved in practical work, learning and having fun. We encourage a friendly atmosphere where everyone joins in and supports each other with what ever role they take on.
